Amnesty International to launch report on Thailand’s refugee pushbacks

On Thursday 28 September, Amnesty International will launch Between a rock and a hard place: Thailand’s refugee policies and violations of the principle of non-refoulement.

The report highlights how Thai authorities have sent refugees and asylum-seekers back to countries where they could be at risk of persecution and other serious human rights violations, and how gaps in protection policies have left thousands of urban refugees in legal limbo.

With the fastest growing refugee crisis in the world unfolding on Thailand’s doorstep, Amnesty International will also urge the Thai authorities to not repeat the mistakes of 2015, when hundreds of Rohingya refugees arriving by boat were pushed back out back to sea.
